Thank goodness for a good bike

From another thread:

My little beemer tops out at 100mph with a tail wind. I think I have more fun on it than those liter sportbike guys, b/c they never get to see the top end of their bikes abilities.

Besides, a sportbike would just be an expensive way for me to commit suicide. I was reminded today that I'm in that critical time span of new riders, year's 2-3, where you get cocky. My bikes abilities did more to prevent an inconvenient and painful spill than my abilities. I just let Mith handle it. :)

They put in a round-about in on my road, about 70 feet after a really hard, blind curve. I know it's there, I know this road so well I can ride it backwards in my sleep. But I ignored the signs about the new thingy, went thru the curve at a fun, but safe speed. Didn't slow down enough, and was in the round-about realizing I was going faster than I knew how to ride. I gritted my teeth and asked Mith to handle it. He did. I doubt I would have killed myself, but it would have been painful, and possibly stitches or broken bones depending on how I landed.

So maybe I'll be safe, with that reminder, for another few months. :D

well, looks like you and Mith are meant to be together. Just have to be careful on roads you know like the back of your hand and new roads u've never been on before.

I know this. But I AM cocky. I have a very good spatial awareness of my vehicle. Made me a good Bradley Driver, where you can only really see 1/4 of what you'd expect to see from a car driver's seat. And it's allowed me to get some large vehicles thru some seemingly impossible situations.

But it has it's downsides, when I forget that I'm not infallible. Not that I am, or course. . . ;)

To each his own!! but on the sport bike part, have you ever ridden on a twin sport bike??? Those are fun to ride with little top end but a outstanding low-midrange torque to conquer the corners with  !

No, I haven't yet. And I'm afraid to right now. I want to later. I grew up riding horses, and one of things I learned with horses is that the more different animals you ride, the better rider you are. This has translated with cars and armoured vehicles, so I'm sure it will translate to bikes equally well.

So I will ride one or two, even if I never own 'em. But I need to be a little better first.

You're def right about riding different bikes giving you a different perspective on the 2 wheel game and it let's you find out what you really like out of all the animals out there. I've ridden/owned cruisers, DS, I4 SB's and V2 SB's but one I really want to ride is that BMW1200RT...............it looks so nice and comfy for those long hauls :)
