1997 vulcan classic engine stalling problem

Hello All, I bought this bike a month ago. It stalls after I ride it for about an hour. It seems that the fan comes on alot and might be getting overheated. I checked all the fluids and they are fine. Once it stalls I can't get it started again. The battery goes dead (brand new battery). I wait a half hour and then it starts. Anyone have any ideas?
