Bell Helmet deals!

#1 Unread post by warrick »

There is a guy on e-bay with a store that has some great deals on New Bell Helmets (seller ID: motors508). Look for ones that have the "best offer" option, and offer about 50% of list price. I have been wearing a half-helmet on my Sportster since I bought it, but just think it would be a safer way to go ( I do have a wife and kids). My wife was so happy I bought a full face helmet. I got the 2010 Cerwinske Limited Edition Bell Star for $275 (list price is $600). Sweet!

Wow, that's a good deal. I'll be sure to check this guy out when I need a new helmet ;)

Sorry to be a downer but:

If you've ever used a Bell helmet back to back with a good helmet you will understand why they are cheaper. There is a lot better helmets out there for not much more money IMO.

Do you own a 2010 Bell Star? Sorry, but you can say all u want, this helmet is top line. Tell me what helemt is so much better and why? The finish is second to none, liner is plush and comfy, the shield mechanism is untouched on the market, graphics are cool, and is as safe as anything else out there.

Gee, lemme guess, Shoei or Arai? I have never owned one, but will take the advice of all the reviews I have seen that say it is just as good or better than the $800 Shoei x-12 or comparable Arai.

You do know that Bell is the largest helmet manufacturer on the planet, right? They can't be doing it all wrong, plus all R&D is done here in the US.

Nope. But I've been bitten twice in the past 24 years of riding on the street by buying a Bell. I wouldn't make that mistake again. What kind of helmets have you had experience with?

Every helmet that I've owned is superior to the Bells that I have owned. That is not to say that they don't finally get it, but it has been a long time coming if they do. I've owned damned near every kind of helmet out there including a few really nice Arai's and Shoeis. One of the best? Shark. And not an expensive one either. On both of my Bells, the liners died a premature death and the shield mechanisms both gave trouble. The overall feel was cheap. So much so that I'm amazed that they are still in business.

Gee, defensive much? Reading reviews are a great place to start but life experience is better. Maybe they have improved ALOT with their newer models, and that would be great. I don't have the experince with the 2010 Bell for the reasons stated above so I'll respect your opinion that it is great (if you've got a point of reference to compare it to....magazine reviews aside). I can also respect your patriotism in supporting R & D in your own country, but not everyone on the board is from the US, so it's not really a selling feature for the rest of us.

I suppose a little defensive since I just bought one, but u kinda slammed my purchase. Apparently they have made the necessary changes to be competitive in the market again. The entry level Arrow ($99) mid level Vortex ($169) and Star ($549-$649) have all recieved very solid reviews from actual riders and review sites (web bike world is excellent). I don't see getting a better helmet for less money, and I kind of like the design. I am happy with my purchase and was trying to share a place to get deals for those interested. My apologies if that is considered advertising (I don't know the seller personally).

Trust me, I am not the guy running around with the US flag all over my bike and everything else, just like the fact that they don't ousource everything.

Sorry to have slammed your purchase, that wasn't my intent. I'll aim to use a little more tact next time. The topic hit a hot button with me based on my experience and I jumped in with both feet. I did end up seeing the Sportster that you bought however and that is one excellent looking ride. Nice mods too. See, I can play nice.....sometimes :P

Does the star have good airflow? I'm sick of wearing a full face and having it fog up at lights. Maybe it's just the cheap helmet I bought but I need a new one anyway...
