my grandfather

well, after a short battle with pancreatic and liver cancer, my grandfather passed this morning. just two weeks ago he was driving his kenworth all over oregon, 11 days ago he was diagnosed, and today, he left us. his doctor told us that this was one of the fastest declines in ones health he has ever seen. sorry to put a damper on the holiday weekend, but i needed a place to write somthing.

I am sorry to hear about your loss, please accept my condolences.
Talking or writing about a loss is a very good way to deal with one's grief. If you started an electronic diary for the next few months, it may help you if you put your daily thoughts on record., If you need feed back from these thoughts, start a personal blog and invite friends or relatives to comment or join in...
When I lost both of my parents in the same year, it was being able to talk freely with my wife, (at the time) that helped me survive mentally.

From my experience, this is something for which you can never fully prepare. I know it may seem difficult now but I hope you'll soon be able to celebrate his life and not dwell on his passing.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My condolences to you as well. My grandmother passed away last month, and even though she was very old and it was most definitely her time to go, it was still hard to say goodbye.
It's good to vent your feelings, and we're glad to be here for you during this time.

Wow...that's fast...sorry to hear.
Glad to see you trying to do something constructive with it like talk about it, Lord knows what I'd be doing after such an experience.
Hang in there...I'm sure he's in a better place.

Sorry to hear of your loss Nightingale, it must have been a shock for you.Try and remember the good times you had with your grandad, He'll always be there in your thoughts.

well, my grandfathers funeral was today. it was really nice. hearing the stories that family and friends had, and then we had a slid show of his life. and at the end, a marine presented my grandmother with a flag as is customary at funerals of soldiers. thats when it really hit me that he was gone. i hadnt really shown too much emotion before that, but that was pretty much the "staw that broke the camels back." after my showing of emotion i felt better about the whole thought of him passing. thanks to everyone who has offered their condolences for my grandfather and my family. thank you and god bless.

my unlce died 2 years ago from brain cancer...cancer is a "dog"...if i ever see her im smashing her teeth in...
just remember...heaven has the best band ever.
