Need some help please. My wife has the S50 and the battery needs to be changed. The manual, for me anyway, is simply confusing on changing the battery. Anyone have any basic instructions on how to make the change?
The S50 also has a broken clutch lever. Broke right in half (and duct tape didn't fix it!). Bought the replacement levers and need instruction. For this repair, would it be better to go to a mechanic? I'm concerned about making sure my cable is tight enough to assure disconnect with the transmission to change gears cleanly/safely.
Your instructions are greatly appreciated.

IIRC the S50 is a pain in the butt to get to the battery. As far as the clutch lever it's pretty easy to replace, but if you don't have the experience, take it to a mechanic and ask him to show you how he does it.
That way you can pay him to change the battery, and he'll usually do the lever for free or cheap on top of that.

As a help to you, I have a DL 1000 V Strom. I love it. It rides well, it is tall (seat height 33 inches) but that enables you to see all around you. Its got power and you can travel easily for long distances-a friend just took his from Ohio to Alaska. The only issue is that if you have a shorter inseam, you might want to purchase the DL 650 seat as it lowers the seat about an inch. I really like mine. Many like the wee-strom (650) but I appreciate the power I know I have. Mechanically, its reliable and I have not heard of any problems.

And just so you know, some shops have an hour minimum charge on labor, but others don't, and this will only take about half an hour, maybe 45 minutes if the guy is REALLY slow.

A lot of shops don't allow customers into the shop area which is totally understandable in this lawsuit happy country.
And most mechanics aren't as extraordinary nice as you are Wrider.
