Competitive Eating?

I spent almost an hour watching a broadcast of a hotdog eating competition where the name of the game was to unceremoniously shovel as much food down your gullet as humanly possible in the time allotted.
As I watched the 40 minute build up to this spectacle, I was opened up to a world I did not know existed. Comptitive Eating
A world with major sponsors, large cash prizes, morbidly obese competitors and the worst table manners since the Mongols ruled China.
Who in their right mind would find this interesting to watch?
And just in case you wanted to find out about this dynamically gluttonous "sport", the International Federation Of Competitive Eating is glad to help.
