New tire average pricing?

Hi,
I'm from Los Angeles and was wondering if anyone is from my area that knows any good motorcycle tire shops? I called up one place and they told me that to replace two tires on an 86 Honda Rebel it would be $250. Is this a normal price? I find it to be a bit pricey, but then again, I'm new to this. If anyone has any answers, thanks in advance!

What kind of tires? Are they going to remove the wheels from the bike, take the old tires off, mount and balance the new tires, and put the wheels back on your bike? depending on the tires he's selling, $250 isn't a bad price.

Yeah, pretty much. The tires that are on there right now are completely cracked, so they're going to have to come off. I'm not sure what brand tires, something just for the street though, nothing fancy.

Two new tires on my bike, mounted and balanced cost $330+ the last time I had it done at the dealer. Motorcycle tires are pricey. Now we've got a tire changer in the garage and can change our own tires.

Even getting tires at cost and switching them myself I'm paying $170 a set.

For that bike I'd ask for Bridgestone S-11 Spitfires. JMHO

None of these prices mean much without knowing what model of tire is being spooned onto the rim. Obviously a tire on a rebel isn't going to be too expensive. Unless they are putting on some POS tires and you are dropping off the whole bike and the dealer is doing the rest, I don't think $250 for front & back is unreasonable.

300 for just the rear tire on my bike..Thats is the shop taking the tire off and mount and balance...Dunlop tire.

Depends on tire and their service fees. My shop used to cost $150 to change both front and rear and installing tubes but the prices went up as everything does in NYC. That was the price if I brought in my own tires which for a cruiser usually go for $180 for both front and rear without tubes. Now service alone is $175.
If you opt for "high" quality rubber then expect the price to go up and if your bike uses tubes then add some more cash on top of that.
I got a guy who can mount tires for $20 provided I take the wheels off and buy the tires myself and haul them to the shop where he works.
