Hi all, I'm trying to sell my 86 Virago 750. It cold or hot starts fine. I can bring down the choke only 1/2 way down. Any further and she dies out. I cannot give her any throttle.....maybe a little if I feather it. I have had the carb replaced and supposedly it is ok. Any ideas? :frusty: Thanks for the help. Ted

Yea, the filter is clean. I was just trying it again. It is so strange. It seems as though I'm flooding it out, it bogs down. But if it were so, I wouldn't be able to start it right up again. It starts strong I just can't bring down the choke or give it any fuel without the bogging down. T.

First check your Idle Screw. If the carbs were replaced this may be out of adjustment. If that checks out ok ...
bog it down and pull the plug to see if it's wet.
let the bike warm up fully (choke on, running for a few mins) then turn the bike off and try to start/run it w/ the choke off . What happens?

hmmm...my bike was recently doing this...id really love to hear the outcome of this, especially since you claimed to have replaced the carb(s). now on my old 78 kawa 250, if i had the airbox and all that shut like it was supposed to...it would die, from lack of air. maybe its the airbox not allowing enough air? i took ym airbox off and it ran awesome after that. its an 86...maybe thats close enough in the range of years that the design of the airbox wasnt the best..just an idea, good luck!

I don't have much time, I've found that if the bike is fully warmed up I need to feather the throttle to keep it going. I think the idle screw idea is the best. It seems as though we arn't getting enough fuel. I think I had it backwards! All I need to do now is to find the time. T.

Well, it seems to have had everyone baffled. The whole problem was the lack of a fine adjusting to the carbs fuel air mixture. ( I was told I was all set with that). I found that if I left the choke at 1/2 and feathered the throttle once the bike was hot, I could get her moving. Just imagine how life would be so easy if everyone did their job right the first time? Thanks for the help. T.
