I got my new bike. It's a vstar 650 Classic and so far I am loving it having a great time crusing around town, But I am woundering how it is going to handle on the interstate at 75mph? Will I be able to cruise comortably? or is it just not built to maintain that kind of speed?

it should be fine. If my KLR650 can do it with only one cylinder, your vstar should have no problem

You'll probably be suffering from wind blast before the bike runs out of top speed..
It's supposed to be around 140 kph (about 84 mph..).. Do you have a screen for it ?.

my ls650 (single cylinder) could handle highway speeds no problem, even two up. I cannot see a v-star sturggling.

I had my 650 VStar up to 120kmh (70mph) with power to spare, but I wasn't enjoying that much speed, so I kept it humming along at 110kmh (65mph). That's the top of my comfort zone.

At 120kmh it started to vibrate ( I could feel it in my teeth), but apparently when you get past that point, it settles down again. Given that I will never take it that fast, I will never know.

You will have to get back to us with a report. :)

wow i thought they only allowed 1100cc bikes on the freeway anything less youd literally be blown off the road as soon as a car passed you?

I took it out today on this long lonley stretch of highway, and I got it up to about 80 with some power to spare. So yeah I am sure that the speed will be good. The road that I was on was so shitty though, Really tore up it made for a really bumpy ride.

But yeah, I think that about 65 it a much more comfortable cruising speed, It's just too hard on you to be doing 75 or eighty.

My XV535, which is the VStar's father (your engine is actually a bored out 535 I think), will run at interstate speeds all day so your 650 shouldn't have trouble. I, however, will not. Since I have no windshield, the wind buffeting gets to me at around 60mph

I use the V-Star every day on the interstate. No problems at all. I've yet to notice the vibrations others talk about but then again, my only other bike to compare it to is my Rebel. (which also does fine on the interstate)

I ride V-Star 650cc quite often on FWY and I would say there is no problem whatsover at 80mph. Yup the wind might blow you off but that happen with bigger bike as well. If you plan to ride on interstate a lot, I recommend windshield and highway peg for comfort.
