Hi, this is my first post. I'm new to riding, but completed the MSF course and I'm looking for my first bike. I've narrowed my choices down to the Vulcan 900 and the C50/M50. I'm currently looking at a 2009 Vulcan Custom SE with just over 1000 miles for $4900. It is stock except for black factory highway bars. I'm also looking at a 2006 C50 with just over 3000 miles for $4000. It has saddle bags, passenger seat/sissy bar, and Vance and Hines pipes installed at the dealership. Both are 1 owner, great condition, and garage kept. Neither price includes tax or title. I'm looking for opinions on which would make a better choice. I think the Vulcan is a better deal financially, but I think I will still eat a bit of depreciation whereas the C50 has already depreciated quite a bit due to it's age. The pipes also sound great on the C50 and I think they add enjoyment of the purchase. I'm leaning toward the C50, but would like other opinions. I like both bikes equally well and have no manufacturer preference. Thanks in advance for your help.

Both are great bikes but I personally would lean towards the Vulcan. I think you'll find that the belt drive on the Vulcan will deliver more of it's power to the rear wheel than the C50's shaft drive. The C50 is also 100cc's smaller than the Vulcan. As to depreciation, both took their big hit the minute they were ridden of the lot new. The Vance and Hines pipes sound nice yes I agree, but I found that after riding with them for any length of time I needed to make another investment... custom ear plugs.

I guess the fact that the Kawi is also 3 years younger might make a difference to me as well. Another thing to ask/consider, does either bike have a transferable extended warranty on it?
