What motorbike would you recommend as I only have a Car license? I have a standard UK car driving license. I haven't taken a bike test nor own a motorbike license. What's the maximum size motorbike I can ride and what would you recommend?

Of course new riders and those interested in riding have many questions, but when the very 1st question is "whats the maximum size available" well, its usually a bad sign :) :frusty:

I believe--I may be wrong--that in the UK you are seriously limited in the size of bike you can start with; it may be no more than a 125-250cc bike (which is plenty when you're just learning.) And you may need (and ideally should take) motorcycle specific instruction before being legally allowed to operate a motorcycle. Your best bet is to contact your local equivalent of the Department of Motor Vehicles and get the information there.

Start small, 125cc possibly. Then as you learn and progress, you can consider moving up in cc's. Above all you will need to take safety courses and use some common sense when approaching a bike purchase and learning to ride. Good luck and be SAFE!

A "Busa" would be a perfect first bike... sorry j/k. I believe you guys have tiered licensing so it would be wise to check with your local Department of Vehicles in your area. As a starter I believe anything under 250cc would keep you busy for at least six months to a year.

To the best of my knowledge you need TO DO YOUR CBT first which is on a 125, then you need a minimum of 10 hours of instruction with a qualified school before you can move on, then you need to do hazard avoidance tests, a yard test and then on road test of 2 hours. Waste of time to even think of buying a bike before you do all of this in the UK
