I need have really poor ignition spark and want to replace my wires but not sure if I can replace the wires without replacing the coil as well. It looks like the wires are fitted permanently to the coils. My bike is an '85 and I need some advice on the wire issue. thanx in advance!

You'll find that the wires are glued as well as fastened. You can change the wires, just be carefull when breaking the glue off around the fastener.

you can switch out just the wires?? i thought that was a permanent fixation...if i ever ahd to replace my coil/wire setup, i was pretty much just planning on buyin a cheap (maybe 2) 12V coil from autozone and wiring it up with those...it would certainly be a hell of alot cheaper than an OEM replacement. A coil's a coil. :P

the wire connections have a hard epoxy over them to prevent vibration loosening them. I have chizled it of before to expose the fastener on a 79 honda.
