Hey I'm looking for a bike for this upcoming year to rebuild and be my bike for a couple of years. The bike has to be lighter than 450lbs wet, and it has to be quick. I'm looking for a bike from the 70s and 80s, that I will be rebuilding, so parts must be accessable. This is what I have so far:
Yamaha RD 350/400
Yamaha XS 400 DOHC
Thanks,
NATE

I've owned 2 RD350LC's, one was stock, one had some motorwork done, but nothing extensive. Both bikes went like hell, weighed nothing and handled wonderfully for thier time. With modern wheels and rubber.... it would be amazing. Not the fastest bikes for outright top speed though. But they get to 100 mph in a hurry.

This is what I have so far:
Yamaha RD 350/400
Yamaha XS 400/500 DOHC
Honda CB 450/550
Depending on the bike I'm looking to go with a cafe racer style bike.
Do you know where to get the body kits for these bikes?
BTW I'm looking to spend under $1500 on this project, bike included, I know it's going to be tight but I'll be able to do all my own work.
