One step at a time

Its been a little over a month since my accident. I went to the doctor yesterday. He removed the pins he put in my toes there was 4 of them I was surprised at how long they were about 4 inches long each. My toes have been sore but they have been hurting worse since he removed the pins. He told me to try to wiggle them but a can't yet. He told me to start trying to put weight on that foot if I can so last night I took a few steps using two tables to support my weight. It did hurt a lot but it felt good to know that I will be walking again soon. Today I took a few more steps and it was a little easier and didn't hurt quite as much. He said I should get back to normal but it might take from 6 months to 2 years. Ill be glad to get away from that wheelchair.

Glad to hear you're up and around... It's been a year since my two surgeries to repair my pretty much destroyed knee, and I started running this week to get back into shape. You'll get there, take it slow and do whatever you can.

Keep your chin up. When I broke my arm it took me over a year just to regain function. Then I was finally able to start PT to build strength and use again. Being told you can walk again must be nice :)

One step at a time is right, glad to hear you are getting there. I am never one to tell peeps what to do but rather tell you what I did. When I broke my leg, my ankle was suspended by the rom brace for months and the tendons froze. I was in agony the first physio. I use to ask myself, what can I do today to make it better and would try things. I found The Goose's foot spa to be invaluable and would get my foot in it whenever I could. I would also use the hand shower on my ankle and toes, first cold and then hot. This also gave relief for hours and I was told that I was also breaking down scar tissue at the same time.

Oh and Tequila, hell that worked when all else failed.
