Best way to find used bikes (in GA)

Well, I am looking for my first bike, but am having trouble locating something to get (ie, under $1k and either running or easily repairable) and think I may not be looking in the right places. I am checking Cycle Trader, CraigsList, eBay, and the classifieds here religiously (at least once a day) and have not come up with anything in my area. You would think living near a big city (Atlanta, GA) would help my chances, but I still can't find anything. Where else should I look?
