Can someone give me some advice on exhaust replacement? I have an 82 CB450 SC Nighthawk. Its exhaust has started to rust through. Is a two into one the way to go or should I go stock? (1 to 1) Parts are getting hard to find so any help would be appreciated. If I can get a boost in performance that would be good too.

For an '82 nighthawk, take whatever you can find. I think you'll have a task finding any system to fit your bike in good shape. When you do, grab it. If you do have a choice, a 2-into-1 will be a bit lighter than a 2-into-2 system, and the single muffler might give you a bit more high RPM power. But not alot.

1-into-1..... must burn the paint off one frame rail on the side with no exhaust header.....

Thanks. Mac sells an exhaust that will fit. Any other modifications I can do to get the most out of the little 450?

None that are worth it. It's not really a race engine. Sure, you could hang a turbo on it if your determined enough, or some such tomfoolery, but your getting into a cost/benifit wormhole that is not worth the time and effort. Good regular maintance is the best thing you do for it and will give the most troublefree miles out of the old girl.

air filters...

they may give you a little more umph...also depending on what your trying to do some of thos cafe racer kits will make your bike look faster.[/url]

I have the Mac 2 into 1 on my 400. It did add a noticable increase in power above 6000 rpm. However, In stock form I found it annoyingly loud. I bought some fibreglass from the bike shop and stuffed it in the baffle. This improved things greatly.
It also looks alot better and weighs about 1/4 of the stock system. (no exaggeration)
I found the best price at Dennis Kirk.

It's certainly not a race engine as Buzz suggested, but it is a pretty quick little bike. 43hp <400lbs, 10,000+ rpm redline.

Can you guys tell me if a cb 450 t hawk exhaust will fit on a cb 450 sc nighthawk? The one at the Old Bike Barn is alot cheaper than the cb 450 sc exhaust from Mac.

No problem, Dude. Dropping weight is about the best mod for performance on any bike, and loseing one of the mufflers works well for this.

They have the same motor, so it should fit. The mounting points could ba little different, but a simple bracket is easy to fabricate.
