Hello all.
I stumbled across your forum and signed up. I am a Canadian living in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean, and have been riding for 43 some years now. I'm a licensed (Ontario, ca) m/cycle mechanic and taught (m/cycle riding) for the Canada Safety Council for 17 years in Canada.
I road raced 350cc stock production at Mosport, and Sanair Quebec in the mid to late 70's
Being somewhat isolated on this small Caribbean island, it is good to find a motorcycle forum of fellow motorcyclists.
I currently own a 1984 Yam XT600E which is down atm. I'll post in the appropriate section to see if anyone can offer some insight.
Regards and ride safe.

to the Total Motorcycle Forum community!! Glad to have a fellow Canadian on here and from the tropics too (you lucky devil).
How are the roads around the island? I imagine you ride all year round too.
I think you will really enjoy the TMW community, it is full of friendly and helpful people, which you sound like from your past one of those too who enjoys helping others. I am sure we can help you out with your bike too.
I look forward to reading your posts and your stories.
Again, welcome aboard!
Mike

Thank you

Yes... it's year round riding (assuming your bike is functioning). The island has areas with perfect roads but potholes are the big problem. I went through 2 front wheels for my 98 ZX9R Ninja before I sold it and got the scrambler.
Halfway up the leeward side of the island the road changes from asphalt to concrete which can be exciting in the rain. It's corner to corner riding and mountainous. At the north end of the island is "La Soufriere", an active volcano so the road doesn't encompass the whole island. As the road gets into the interior it goes through rain forest type foliage which blocks the sunlight and you have to watch for moss on the concrete. That is about the same as ice , only warm and green lol... effect is the same.
I look forward to sharing

I'm off to your garage section to post my problem, cheers

Bob

Hello and welcome
It must be fun riding in Caribbean (except for the moss and potholes), we have (had) year round riding until this year, when we had snow and ice, lots of ice, at least "lots of ice" for Georgia. Sorry you're XT is having problems, hopefully you will get it running again soon. I have a RD350 that needs to be repaired, what kind of bike did you race?
Have fun riding on the island and be safe.
