Howdy y'all! Just got my first motorcycle: 1984 Honda V45 Custom. The engine was swapped out for a 750CC version about a year before I bought it. Looking forward to the MSF course I have planned in a couple of weeks.

Good luck in the MSF - Super important class (in my opinion).
I have a Honda Shadow 750 - I love, love, love this bike. I'm sure you'll love yours too.
Have fun. Let us know how you class goes :)

Ciao,
Noobie

That's a great motorcycle. There's nothing like the V-4 motors. I used to have a V30 I bought for my girlfriend but I ended up spending the most amount of time on it. Phenomenal bike.

Good luck in your MSF class

No they got hit by the import taxes of the 80's and dropped it to 700 from 84 through the rest of the run

No this was before HD went crying to the Feds. All '84 Magnas were either V45(750) or V65(1100).

Wikipedia is telling me they started 700 in 84. I mean I wasn't even 1 year then so you have me beat memory wise. :)

Yes the Interceptor was the first victim of the Harley tarrif in late '84. They actually sold both simultaneously. The VF750F and the VF700F.

That being said, the V45 designation was reserved for the 750cc only. Obviously the 45 stands for 45 cubic inches which is 750 cubic centimeters. The 700 Magnas were not called V45 but VF700C.

BTW, shouldn't you be reading peer reviewed academic journals and not wikipedia :smartass:

Sorry for the confusion. The guy I bought it from posted it as a V45, but he told me it was a 700cc before he replaced it. I guess that would mean that it is actually the VF700C. Either way, it is a fun ride. :D
