Of all the bikes you have owned, past or present,which one was your favorite? Now you may have had several, but if you had to choose one which would it be and why?

Well as a young man I'd say a Triumph, but now I like a good running Concours in the garage...and a Buell for those hooligan days.

For me, it would be close between the 1980 Honda CB400T Hawk and the 1982 Yamaha Seca 650R but I think the Seca 650R would just edge out the CB400T. (so close in fact I edited this last bit to reverse the choice!)

I truly loved them both, each for it's own merit. The 400 was just so light and do-it-all kinda bike. I never even cared it was "just a 400cc" or how much power it didn't have or did, it was just brilliantly fun. I went on many off-roading adverturers with it, traveled thousands of km's on highways and it never gave me a problem.



The Seca 650R I loved for it's style, power and sound. It had it all pretty much. The electrics did need sorting out and the engine compression was slowly going down. I would have bought one new if I could find one. But the Seca 650R was a rare bird, only a few hundred made (of that year). I pushed that bike 101% in corners, at the StoplightGP and took care of it like no other bike.

As for me I had a v65 magna during my high school and college years. That bike was a blast. But now I have my two favorite bikes...my '09 vrod and '10 vmax. The vrod has style while my vmax is crazy fast and handles so well! I really can't choose but if I had to choose one it would be...

Suzuki DL650. The only bike I ever sold that I still miss.

My first bike was a 81 CB400T that I traded in 6 months and 6k miles later on a 82 CB750K followed by a 81 CM400A, a 85 Nighthawk 650, a 97 GS500, and my current 02 GS500 which is my favorite of the lot. I like the smaller ones better myself which have been much more fun in the twisties than a larger bike was. Never had a desire to try a large cruiser.

The bike I miss the most from the past is my 1995 BMW K75.

I owned the same one (my last bike) and it was a great bike, I really loved how I could get 700km on a tank of gas with it...absolutely amazing. I found it very comfortable (the most comfortable of any bike I've ever owned) but the downfall for me was highway riding with it in the wind... either it was too light or too tall as it got blown around.

I test rode a GS500E once, nothing wrong with it at all. In fact I agree with your smaller bike idea... although one bike I am looking at buying is a 700lb bike when I get back to Canada (Harley-Davidson) IF (and that's a big IF, I can afford a used one...maybe an 08'). I figure, I've owned a Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, might as well collect them all. haha.

So many bikes to try, so little time! argh.

Since this is an almost impossible game to play i will say my first bike was my favourite:

1983 Yamaha RZ350K

It was quick, light, manoeuvrable, reliable, and pretty cool compared to all the dog-slow 4-strokes at the time. (Like those CB400 Hawks - chuckle). And you could tour on the thing too, there were lots of mods available and it got me into racing... so it's all good. I owned almost every different model RZ350 from 1983-1990 and often had 2 runners in the garage and a parts bike
