Mirror Mirror on my bike....

I can't think of anything good that rhymed with bike
Anyway I was looking at getting some new mirrors for my bike. I notice there are some people that sell mirrors that are compatible with my bike. But when I was looking closely to me it seems most of these mirrors needed adapters. I'm sure there are some mirrors that are specific to certain bikes (gold wings, etc) but still I couldn't help but think.
Can I put pretty much any mirrors I want on my bike given someone makes an adapter? If yes then why do people even bother putting "Compatible with blahblah '09"? Is it just a way to get more hits on your mirror when you list it as being compatible with certain bikes?

"Mirror, mirror on my bike
Make me look as good as Mike"
You're welcome.

Well you certainly cant put ANY mirror on your bike, but if it's the Monster there should be tons that fit, and some nice bar-end styles look good and actually WORK well too... without being spindly antennas out there ruining the clean looks.
as for poems:
Mirror Mirror on my bike
I like two wheels
not a Trike...

Careful, Mike might take offense to that!
And as for mirrors, yes as long as you can find an adapter it should work.
Some obviously would be impractical, but hey, no one else has done it, why can't you?
And as for "compatible with" type things, yes, that's just to increase hits in a search. I regularly search "Dakota" and "Durango" on my local craigslist for extra parts I may like, but I always return something along the lines of "Will not fit: Dakota, Durango, XTerra, my mom's pink Cadillac" just to increase the hits on it.

I ride a sidecar rig, not a trike.

Thanks for the advice.
The problem is Monster Compatible usually means $$$$$$$$$$$
I love the way Rizoma Mirrors look but if there is a chance I can find something cheaper I like as much I want to give it a shot.
I was looking at some slip ons for the bike and the site will day $359 - $959 and ofc when I look up my monster it's the $959

I understand that some glass shops will actually engrave what ever you would like on your mirrors. I'm thinking of engraving "Objects in mirror are not even close" on my Vmax.
