How can I get rid of this rust

#1 Unread post by beerbaron »

I've got some rust on my handlebar. Can you guys give me some tips to get rid of it .

I was thinking abous a steel wool, and afther some silver paint. But I doubt that's the best thing I should do.

Here is a pic of it:

To get it good, you'll have to remove the clip-on entirely and clean it up on a bench-mounted wire wheel, or with some fine grit sandpaper. Then either repaint it with some quality spray paint or, better yet, have it powder-coated (you may want to do both to ensure a match).

You may want to try some Navel Jelly when you get everything removed around it first and then some #0000 steel wool and lots of elbow grease .
If that doesn't get enough off then I recommend taking Zootech's suggestion to heart .
Kind regards, Wizzard
