What is the fascination with "riding in the rain?"

Is there something I am missing? It seems every other ad on Craigslist for bikes says, "Never road in the rain!" As if that somehow spoils the bike? Am I missing something?

As long as it was warm I kinda liked riding in the rain. It was just one of those things that always put a goofy grin on my face.

The bit you are "missing" is that these peeps do not know how to ride in the rain. Tells you a bit about the type of person.

I would think they are meaning "It's not rusty". Here in the UK, riding in the rain (specificly winter roads in the rain) can rust your motorcycle in a few seasons, cause havoc to the brakes and cause chrome to go off very fast.

What did the previous owner/s do when it started to rain while in the middle of a ride, then?

Not to mention these are all Seattle ads, if they never even risked riding in the rain, obviously their bike did not get ridden much!

Now that makes it even wierder. I'm from Southeast Asia. If you don't ride in the rain here, you don't ride, period.

Yeah, all the ads I've seen that advertised not ridden in the rain and garage kept all have very low miles on them for the model year. The bikes are in a pristine condition (like the buddy who got an R6) but I've also seen that on bikes that were ridden in many weather conditions with high mileage as long as it was maintained properly and cleaned up.

sadly Adult owned does not involve any that... :ninja:
