I have a 2002 VTX1800r Honda. I recently started having problems with the motorcycle not starting. I later found a small spring that was broken on the kick stand, there were 2 springs, the one that broke was the small one the sub spring. I bought a new one, however I am not sure what to attach the spring to.........any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

The sub spring appears to attach to the side stand switch, which appears to be located inside the side stand bracket.

Appearances can be deceiving.

Attach it to where the other one is attached.

It didn't matter where I looked, I couldn't find a clear picture of the springs. Although, in one picture they looked to be one inside the other and both connected to the same spot. I was originally thinking that the smaller one might be attached to the ignition cut off switch that's activated when the stand is down, but that seems to be actuated in another manner...

I did find this online and thought it may be of some help...

I tried pulling them with a set of pliers and that didn't work. Get this, as I was pulling on the spring, the bike was sliding towards me. It was friggin weird. I ended up using a screw driver which allowed me to pull on the screw driver with both hands using my fingers and hold the kickstand with my thumbs. This kept the bike from sliding.
