Anyone know how a tach works and if any aftermarket one will work for me, I want to get this little sucker for my honda.

But will it automaticly be correctly calibrated, or is there a way that I can calibrate it afterward... or am I screwed if yamaha tachs run at a different rate than hondas?

well, im no expert, but heres my experience with tachs...

i dont see any reason for it not to work. whether its mechanically driven or electronic (electronic would be better i think..more accurate i would think theoretically..hook it up to the coil and it senses the pulses from it..thats how u can do it with cars anyway, i dont see why not with bikes) if its mechanically driven with a cable...i dont think theres any gear ratios that need to be changed like you do on cars with speedometers. hopefully someone else will come along and either verify or correct what i say. every post is something to learn from, thats why im here. :P

If it's electronic you should have no problem, just pay attention to the setup details!
