Touring boots with toe sliders?

I've been wanting a bit more protection for my feet, so I bought a pair of Sidi Fusions. I figured since they were entry level race boots, they'd have more than enough protection for regular street riding, but without all the extra stuff that would make them too stiff and uncomfortable.
I'm pretty happy with them for pleasure rides, but since their calves are angled forward (for the racer crouch) they're still a pain anytime you need to do more walking than just paddling around a gas station. Still not a ride to work/errand boot. Can anyone recommend a touring boot with good ankle/toe/shin protection? Thanks in advance.
