smoking the weed...

ok i see alot of smokers on the forum i think, not that alot have come out and said so, but those wacky canadians seem to love it.

just wondering what everyones thoughts on the weed is. i personally dont smoke it anymore i went through a short period of heavy use and really enjoyed it. but the risks are too heavy, here being caught can mean heavy jail time, not to mention every employeer can random drug test you. try getting a job with that on your resume.

if it were legal id certain pick back up into it, i for one cant understand Why alchoal is legal and weed isnt. other than govt taxxing the alchoal and couldnt tax the weed. its alot harder to make *good alchoal than it is to grow a weed. so how can you tax something people can grow, theres no thing to buy that you could tax. besides maybe pipes and papers but then everyone would use coke cans. another solution would be a license to smoke it that you need to pay a certain fee to have. theres something similar here for native americans with peyote. peyote is very easy to come by and illegal unless your native with a license to harvest it. they limit how much you can have on you at a given time, and the license is fairly pricey each year.

also the importing from mexico is a huge problem, here at least. even if legal that would be supporting the smuggling from mexico which as we all know 'supports terrorism'.

so im done ranting i guess, anyone feel free to chime in on this.

Don't know if you'll get a lot of responses - weed makes you paranoid I guess. Anyway, I smoke a bit. I don't drink (not a conscious effort, I just lost the taste for it over the years) and it's nice to take the edge off now and again. I'm a pretty light user - just a single toke off one of those cigarette style one-hitters two or three times a week. And I like the cheap stuff - I just want to relax a bit, not watch the wizard of Oz in a dark room while listening to Pink Floyd. I don't like to get out of sorts. And I never ride after I smoke. I don't worry aboput the legalities much - I've never sold it, I don't have anything else in the house that could be considered illegal, I have a clean record, and the amount I have at any given time is tiny so even in a worst-case scenario I doubt I could get anything more than a ticket. As for the legal issues - of course it should be legal. It grows wild in ditches and it's a plant fer chrissakes. Alcohol (which should also be legal) does far more damage to society than rx. rx users have a stigma attached to them that is unfair in my opinion - for example... I'm a 39y.o. white dude with a college degree, lilly-white legal record, general manager of a construction co., same job for 13 years, I have short hair, I love my wife and I'm always on time for work. Basically, I'm about the safest, most responsible, boring, tax-paying, law-abiding neighbor you could ever hope to have. Except that I ride a motorcycle and smoke a little weed  the thing is that most stereotypes about people who smoke, MUST by definition be incorrect by virtue of the fact that so many people smoke it! When I was a kid I thought it was all kids and stoners and musicians who smoked. Now that I'm approaching middle age all the people I know that smoke are lawyers, accountants and school teachers. I enjoy it in moderation and I know that it isn't risk-free and I understand the risks. Who is the government to tell me that I shouldn't smoke? I don't recommend smoking at work. I don't recommend smoking while studying, driving a car, riding a motorcycle, etc.

i agree, although i was more into watching lord of the rings(or star wars) while listening to smashing pumpkins, great fun once a week or so. but the downside is it stays in your system for so dam long(a month) if something happens and you need to take a "pee" test you better have not smoked for a good month to pass it unlike alchoal which is outa your system in a few hours. not that im saying do either while At work. but i have known people smoke on their days off then get a random drug test later in the week/month and fail and totally screwed their lifes up.

Drug testing is a whole other issue. I probably wouldn't apply for a job that tested, but I've reached a stage in life where I have that luxury. I'm kind of against testing on principle, but I can understand it for some jobs that involve public transportation... though they should test for alcohol BEFORE they test for anything else - see Exxon Valdez. The fact that companies screen for rx yet have no problem hiring legions of high-functioning alcoholics is beyond me. I also wouldn't let rx keep me from getting a job if I really, really wanted the job. It's fun to smoke sometimes, but if it gets in the way of your life or where you want your life to go, then it's a problem and you ought to be able to put it down.

ive been dealing with this issue for awhile...i smoke a lot of weed. i have been curbing my appetite for it for a couple reasons.

1. my job is cushy and has no drug tests but i dont want to sell mattress's for the rest of my life. i deserve more and so does my wife and kid. so i have to pass a drug test to get started in my chosen field(welding and metal fabrication)

2. i no longer make enough to suppport my habit.

3. im tired of being mentally challenged all the time.

4. and its becoming a chore to even find any worth smoking.

5. i want a sweeter motorcycle...so i quit so i can save for that too.

damn getting old and responsible.

the three times i smoked it it made my legs hurt like hell the next day. (really)the reason it is not legalized is a no brainer.look at the money the judges--lawyers--cops and other assorted trash make from reselling what they confiscate from users. not to mention the bribes they get from the big boys that import it in here.or maybe i am wrong and the government is worried about it being a health hazard---BULLSHOT!!!

I learned almost everything there is to know about drugs during my year at a public highschool...

There are a lot of smart kids that smoke weed, and the only negative effects I've seen are those enforced by society- drug tests, primarily.

However, I've never smoked anything, taken anything in illegal doses, or drank alchohol. :| I'm scared of being caught before anything else...I'll probably try some psychadelics after I move into my own place.

I say legalize it, take the profits out of the hands of organized crime. Tax the hell out of it and pay off some of this government debt. In BC, it's probably the biggest cash crop being grown, and only the criminals profit from it. I mention quality control, but if you know anything about BC bud... Quality isn't an issue...lol. (Apparently, BC bud wins at Amsterdam's contests for best bud quite frequently...

I personally have no experience with the stuff
