I found a top 10 most efficent motorcycles in U.S. as of 2009

The problem is the list is a few years old and has no mention of aftermarket add ons, not for chrome, but utility/functions only such as storage trunk, windshield/screen, other storage options that would make the bike a great out in the middle of no where utility bike, both on and off roads. By off road I mean can ride easily on gravel or dirt or mud. Standard gas tank size plays a role due to get from nowwhere to somewhere unless a spare tank is possible. This is not a dirt racer but a utilty bike.

If you look at the list (Link above), is the list still current with models and any new models or mpg changes?
I'm trying to find a 80 or more mpg bike, then look at the practical features or abilities it may have. Its target riding area is mostly city, short rides but needs to get up to 65 MPH for 10 minutes or a little more with a load.

I'm not looking at any scooter because as a group they lack the higher utility/flexibility that a motorcycle can offer.

On the older list (2009) the bikes listed are:
(H=Honda, K=Kawasaki, Y=Yamaha and S=Suzuki)

K Ninja 250R at 61 mpg

S DRZ400S at 65 mpg

K KLXS 250 at 70 mpg

Y WR250X at 71 mpg

Y XT250 at 73 mpg

Y TW300 at 78 mpg

S GZ250 at 82 mpg

H Rebel at 85 mpg

H CRF230M at 85 mpg

K Eliminator 125 at 95 mpg

S DRS200S at 105 mpg

My Priorities
1. Tied for 1st -Mileage
1a. Tied for 1st -Reliablity
3. Utility add ons from the mfg or others like cargo add ons etc...
4. Must be able to fit rider with inseem of 32 inches. Flat footing not required but nice
5. Cost over the bike lifetime. This assumes the target bike is one or two years old when I buy it.

So is the list still current and which seem to best fit my priorities above?

As a note, we have the very first Motorcycle MPG guide, back in 2006 it was created and updated in 2009, but it's scheduled for another update this summer.

I have 23 pages of fuel MPG's to add plus another 100 in emails. You can see the 23 pages here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5475 and the Motorcycle MPG guide here:

Plus, most of the models on our Motorcycle Model Guides have MPG data on them as well.

I posted the question on this becuase the mpg chart does not contain a number of those bikes that are in the top 10. At least I didn't see them there.

For reliability and add-ons, I'd vote for Ninja 250. Are you looking for a commuter bike? If it's freeway commuting, Ninja 250 will keep up with traffic; not everything else on that list can do that.

I would go with the Ninja 250R or the new Honda CBR250 http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2 ... BR250R.htm myself as well. :D

Honda does make a CBR125, if you can fit on it, it's popular in the UK with new riders.

If you own a motorcycle just for its gas mileage then you own it for the wrong reason. Its funny how people will spend $5000 to $10,000 for a motorcycle just so they can save $5 a week in gas. You own a motorcycle for the love of riding one, not for its gas mileage.
