I am proud of the fact that I have stayed employed by the same place for over 16 years.

I totally agree Blues, & scrubbing up before surgery is probably the ultimate hand wash.
One thing that I have noticed changing over the years is a reluctance to touch a patient without gloves, however the hands should also be washed, before & after contact.
I think it is sad that colleagues are reluctant to offer the natural comfort & perhaps dignity of touuching skin to skin. If hands are clean & without cuts or skin breaks the risk to patient or worker are minimal.
Yesterday I was in obstetrics & I felt really sad to see the midwives & paediatrician (baby neede some post delivery care but ok now), stroking the little one with gloves on! i don't believe the non sterile gloves offered any protection to either staff or babe so why use them?

oops! i missed the Reality Check! --- snicker -- well 5 hours from the ocean aint so bad, but FEELing like a sea otter is always better, even if i cant meet up with sea-lions, dolphins and whales... especially since the temperatures here have dropped just out of the 30C range this week and plumetted to 20-22C, but I can still get some swim time in at the lake rather than in the hypothermia-inducing pacific oceanblues2cruise wrote: pffftt. You are in the Okanagan..nowhere near the ocean. You could be snack food for Ogopogo.

proud to live is a society that even if 90% of the population thinks you are wrong, you still have the right to peaceful protest
