What about ordering bikes?

Hey everyone, I have been reading posts and watching this topic for a few days now. I read all of the "New/Beginner" stickies, but I am still wondering. About shipping bikes, is it a bad idea? Here in Hawaii, on Maui, the selection.... to say the least, it sucks. I could talk to dealers about ordering bikes through them possibly? I am quite far from the actual ordering part, and I need to do more research on bikes and all before then, but I was wondering. And also, the local Harley shop has some Buells, and I am wondering if they are worth looking into, I haven't seen them mentioned to much on the board, are they bad bikes or something? Thanks, I'm not done yet, more questions to follow.

*blinks* Where would you ride? I suppose if there's a highway running around the island, you've got the world's coolest race circuit on off-hours...

Where would I ride? I'm not too sure if there was sarcasm in that or not, apologies. I would be using the bike to get to and from school, somewheres about 5 miles away? Every morning to and from that, with a twice a week trip downtown to classes at the community college, about 20 miles round trip? I'm going to be a junior in high-school, and I just turned 16 yesterday, July 19th. Thanks.

EDIT: I re-read your post, I understand that there was no sarcasm in it now. ;)

I've had nothing but Buells, and love them. You sound like you need to carry books and stuff with you, you can get bags for a Blast, but with the XB's you have only the option of a tank bag and/or a small (big enough for practically nothing) bag for the back seat. I use a back pack when I need to carry something.

If you want the bike and you have the money or financing, ordering one should be no sweat ... It's the waiting that's the PIA...

Hey, congrats on the 1K posts. I will probably just wear a backpack with the books, I don't think there will be too many. The reason I ask about Buells, is that down at the local shop, there is a Buell (Lightning, I think) for about 9K USD. That seems to be the cheapest road-bike at that shop, but there are two other shops I could look into. I am quite a ways from the bike it's self and may not even buy one, (I tend to get really excited about something, make plans to buy it, but then realize that it is quite out of my financial reach :() If I do go for it, I can probably convince my dad to go for the financing with me, and take the montly payments, whatever they may be, upon himself, and I pay him as they arise. Thanks for the help.
