Hey everyone,

I'm Steve and I'm from London, England (UK). I currently ride a Kawasaki GPX 750 R.

I'm looking to travel to the USA soon and do a coast to coast tour :)

Thanks!

Hello Steve and welcome to the forum. So you want to visit the good old USofA. If you get to Kansas City give me a holler and I'll show you how BBQ is done.

I LOVE London!!! Mind the gap haha...

Maryland rider here. Having been to London before, I'd be interested in some of the routes you take around your area.

Hi Steve

Welcome to the site. Where in London are you from? Seems a little hot north of the river at the moment!

Keep us informed of your trip to the USA.

Cheers

Richard

And 'Hi' from another bloke from London! Been in the United States since 1978, and never been back.

I note that Mike, the administrator here, has an avatar of the Ace Cafe. I have my 'Ace Cafe' and 'Rockers' patches. I know the place but was too young to join the Rockers at the time. Moved to Clacton-on-sea at age 14 and got my first motorcycle at age 16. BSA Bantam - 125cc. Later got a BSA C15 250cc. Wrecked it in a head-on crash with a Mod on a Vespa scooter and was out of commission for a long time. Gave up riding, to raise a family. In America, now, and on the spur of the moment back in 1989, I bought a 650 Yamaha Midnight Special. Hurricane Hugo came through here on that day, but I didn't let it stop me from riding.

From the vibrating Yamaha, I went to a Gold Wing, but that was too smooth and quiet - didn't feel like a motorcycle. So I graduated to a Honda Shadow 750.
Went from that to a new Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. A clutch problem put that bike out of action for four months because parts weren't available, and they knew that the pressure plate was liable to wear out very quickly due to some of them not going through the tempering process, properly.. It took 10,000 miles for mine to fail.

Went from the Vulcan to a new 1994 Shadow VT1100C which is still my current ride. Tried to sell it, this past Spring, but when a guy called and said he'd be here in one hour with the cash, I started to shake and told him I just can't part with it. The only repair I've had to do - in 47,000 miles of riding this bike, was to replace the stator and regulator/rectifier, last Spring, when the connecting plug burned out.

Anyway, here's a link to the Ace Cafe photos I have at Google+
