Newbie needs help: my bike's not getting any power

2001 Suzuki Savage 650. Battery is less than 2 months old.

I am pretty certain that I didn't leave the lights on or anything like that, but now it just won't get any power (no horn or headlights or anything). I rode the bike for about an hour this morning, and went to take it for a spin again in the evening. I sat on the bike and it had power. The headlight and neutral light were on. I hit the ignition button and it started to turn over then the whole thing died. Any ideas how I should start troubleshooting this?

Might be unrelated, but this thing has a Supertrapp exhaust. It was just the pipe with no baffles, but it was loud as hell, so I bought the baffles and core assembly from Supertrapp and installed it this morning. As I said, it rode fine for a few hours, I was actually really happy with the performance.

Any thoughts on what this might be?

Thanks for your time!

Do you have a multi-meter? Can you tell me how many volts your battery reads?

Nope, I don't have one. I can pick one up though. Is there a certain kind that I should get? What should I be looking for?

Thanks!

If there is no lights or power to the bike the first thing is to check the fuse on the starter relay. Its the part that the positive battery cable and the starter motor hook to.
