Hi. I’ve just bought my first motorcycle CBR 600 f2 . Also I’ve bought a HJC CL-14 Fuse helmet size M on-line. This is my first helmet. It fits well but it looks too bulky and it’s kind of heavy . It looks like it’s much bigger then other helmets I’ve seen on other riders. Are HJC helmets bigger then other famous brands helmets or it’s just my imagination. Are all Medium helmets approximately the same size? Can you guys advise me a good helmet under 250$ which is not so bulky and not a piece of "crumb"?

Different helmets fit differently. You really should try on helmets in a store, wear it around for 20 minutes or so before deciding on it. Having a good salesperson help with the fit can make a world of difference as well. You'll find some helmets seem to fit only oval shaped heads and others only fit more rounded shaped heads. One style may look bigger than the other due to it's shape and be heavier due to the composition of the shell. Some are plastic, some fibreglass, some carbon, or a combination of?...

Helmets can also look differently on different heads (if that made sense). I'd try several on, see what you like, what fits properly, what gives you the best vision, etc. Renegade Classics in our area has a lot of different helmets - manufacturers, styles, etc. You're bound to get many opinions, but in my opinion, I'd go into a store and try 'em all on (vs. buy online) because unless you're lucky, you're likely to waste $$ to return or $$ on a helmet you don't use.

A friend that I ride with has a the biggest dome I've ever seen fit under a full face helmet. He claims to require either a 3X or 4X depending on the manufacturer.

HJC are a little bigger/heavier than Arai and Shoei. Scorpion is more on the level of HJC. It's also all about the price point. They all provide very close to the same protection, but Arai and Shoei cost more because it's delivered in a lighter, slightly smaller, and sometimes prettier package.
