2011 BMW K1300R

Absolute destruction. Aggressive. Adrenaline pure. Even when standing still. And even more so as soon as it gets going. What happens at this moment is among the special moments in the life of a biker: a rocket-like start. Thanks to its geometry, this projectile zooms into orbit like no other. Perfect for the quarter mile. But also for everyday use. And bends. Not only does it supremely tap into 173 bhp and 140 Nm and produce a sound from its new hexagonal tube with catalytic converter and exhaust valve that gives you goose pimples. But also because all this goes hand in hand with fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels which even a “sensible” bike would be proud. After all, BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke.

The very finest technology, ergonomics from the people who invented it and a style which is simply unforgettable. And you can hardly believe that despite all this emotional appeal, it is one of the safest motorcycles with the best levels of everyday suitability: ABS and ESA II as optional extras, for example. And even the accessories bowl you over: racers order the automatic shift function which allows them to burn through the gears, as well as the MotoGP-style 2D dashboard – just so the lap times are official. And if you want to load it up there are even luggage solutions, too. But even they cannot change the fact that this is the coolest power in town. Contact your dealer if you have any questions or concerns about test driving this bike!

The BMW K 1300 R: power has a face.

From model year 2011 the BMW K 1300 R is available in the following new paint finishes:

- Acid green metallic/Black satin gloss
- Black satin gloss/Granite grey metallic matt

The paint finishes Lava orange metallic and Silk metallic are no longer available.

Not necessarily my kind of ride but I think it's ok looking. The front forks are pretty interesting. Aw, who am I kidding, I don't really care.

I - well, my wife - had a BMW car once (325i)...I hope they make better bikes than cars! (no offense intended towards anyone owning their cars)

I have got a bit of a soft spot for BM's as used to have one years ago. They are jokingly seen as a bit of an old man's bike over here.

The spec on this suggests it could well appeal to a much younger market.

I haven't seen one yet but from the pics it looks quite funky & cool.

It's kind of ugly (stating the obvious), but somehow in a cool way (unlike, say, the Diavel, which is just plain ugly). Used to be the most powerful naked production bike, quirky Hossack front suspension, it's got enough character and innovativeness to merit a cool vote. If I had to choose among liter standards, I'd still prefer a Speed Triple though.

:starwars: Vote Awesome-
Love the K1300R
its what Darth Vader would ride. Would like a decent windscreen, but its a bike you could go hooligan all day long.

Love those front forks.

if i don't buy this next it will be a speed triple or ktm sm 990 maybe kawi ninja.

Unobtanium fail. Not sold in the USA. We get the R1200R and F800R, and we get the K1300S. But no K1300R here.

They make some delicate, fussy, overengineered bikes that are great... when everything's working right.

I voted Uncool.

I can't get over the screwed up look of the bike... As Grey Thumper said above, it's not quite as bad looking as a Diavel (total fail!) but it's not much better in my books.

I'd own a current Z1000 way before owning this one... and would save about $6000 CDN in the process too!
