So, You're looking for a new ride.
What are the main points you consider? does anyone really even look at the safety aspect of a bike when buying? or security?
Would you pay more for a bike that was more difficult to steal, or had better safety features?
discuss...

I know I'm a little old school on this one, but...I prefer a bike nobody cares about, with tip-top maintenance for riding safety. If it doesn't work right, I don't want it. Since I'm on limited budget, older bikes allow me to keep them running without hig tech equipment or using the dealer shop. Nobody seems too interested in stealing my old kz650, so I guess I chose safety. In a perfect world..2005 cbr600rr with state -of-the- art antitheft devices.

When buying a used motorcycle I do take the bikes safety into account. Checking out the condition of the tires is critical. You don't want tyres/tires older than 5 years on a used bike and any tires that have tiny sidewall cracks all over will need replacing for sure for your safety.
Also I take in consideration brake pad life, and brake fluid age. As with tires, brake fluid needs to be changed every year or two.
Would I pay more for a motorcycle that offered better safety features? You bet! But sadly only 5-10% more because price does matter. But I would never consider a motorcycle that is "Below Average" in safety options.
I think the "aveage" motorcycle out there sold in 2000-2005 offers excellent safety features. But there are other manufactuers who do more. Take Honda Motorcycle for example, their 2005 motorcycles (like the CBR600) use brake away components (like mirrors, wind shields, etc) to offer better safety for the rider in a crash. Honda also told TMW that they are the ONLY motorcycle company who actively CRASH TESTS their motorcycles to improve rider safety.
