New 110cc, load engine tapping?

I have a brand new (2009)110cc Monkey, Daix. At 500km on the bike, it started making a tapping noise, only when under a load. It sounds like a bad valve train tapping but it sounds like the noise is coming from the crank case. In trouble shooting: (1) I adjusted the valves, they were not far off, and the rockers don't look bent (2) I pulled the cylinder, the main crank bearings, rod bearings all seem to be tight and smooth, (3) I pulled the clutch cover and clutch, all looks OK there.
Next I will have to slit the gear case but it does not seem that the noise would come from the transmission.
