My name's Carrie and I'm a 24 y/o female rider from winnipeg, mb. My bike is a '96 Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat, yellow and silver. The guy wanted to sell it to me including a stinky yellow hjc helmet, yamaha garage jacket, and the original engine for $2300 (for spare parts). He swapped out the original one for a newer one with only 5000sum kms on it whereas the original had almost 50000. I talked him down to 1900 without the spare engine since it was all I had on me with the hopes of buying a different bike but that other buyer was incredibly sketchy..

As it was, the bike had no second gear as it slipped out, clutch was a little sticky, needed new tires, needed oil change, and had a few tiny cracks here and there in the front fender and bolt hole spots on the fairings. As it is now, it still has no second gear, clutch is still sticky, needs new tires, had an oil change along with winterization, and all the cracks have been epoxied. I've reupholstered the original black seat to a grey/silver color and sanded down all the fairings and front fender in prep for turning into an alluring black and gun metal grey beast of sexy back!! I still have to buy a seat cowl, integrated front and rear turn signals, hid headlight kit, pazzo levers, handle grips, and possibly a new windshield (the sporty kind).

Tis a project and I'll be documenting my advances in it so I'll be posting up pics in the garage forum soon:)

Welcome to TMW.

Since you are in Winnipeg, you'll have plenty of time to get your bike project finished.

Enjoy the forums. :)

Haha thanks! The last thing I have to do before primer and paint is to fiberglass those broken bolt corners and passenger handle bar holes since there were no caps manufactured for it. And yeah, winter here is the better half of a year so even with my incredible sense of laziness, i'll have plenty of time:p
