Well, the title about says it all. Hot, stuffy, humid. I rode about 25 miles in the 103 degrees yesterday, and really didn't feel like it today. Seems hard to believe. I guess it's a function of getting older..can't handle the heat unless it's at work. But, I got to watch Lance Armstong win the time trial live this morning, so all is not lost, and there's a huge afternoon of racing tomorrow, after church. Even 250 Motogp is on. Stay safe, everyone as you ride...After I ride home from church tomorrow, I'm taking a few days off the bike for Heat!

Yup.
Benn there (today), done that, and have the t-shirt in a drawer. Even the A/C in my car couldn't keep up today.

Step four:

it was 115 the other day here ice wouldnt even make it past warming the bike up hah.
i was wondering if it would be effective to rig up water misters on the handle bars to get a nice mist whiel riding to keep cool. i havent seen this done before, but youd think it would be a huge improvement.

Scan went away this weekend on his bike, and I thought it would be hard to not ride this weekend, but after being out today, I know I wouldn't have ridden too long anyway. And today was our good day (high humidity, but only in the upper 80's). Tomorrow through Tuesday is supposed to be miserable. So the kids and I will be blasting the window air units and cleaning house. I may even do an early morning oil change on my bike - it's due anyway. Stay cool folks!
Cheers,
Loonette
p.s. I like the ice idea, Sev. That would actually do a nice job for awhile.

Step seven for us old folks:
Have heart attack.
Just kidding, Sev. Have you seen a thing called the "cool thing" that you soak in water and a gel of some kind expands and stays cool for days? It's designed to wrap around the neck, and would work great, too. I used to have one...need a new one, even for work. I need the ice for tea.

As an alternative to Sev's method, try filling a bunch of ziplock baggies with ice and hide them in pockets all over your riding gear. Instant cooling!

Aerostich Cool Mate Pump: $20
Aerostich has packaged a real cool solution to hot
rides into this neat pump device. Equipped with an
O-ring seal and an insulated jacket, the Cool Mate
can be pumped up to approximately 80 psi with 15
to 20 strokes. The system finely atomizes water,
allowing you to spray yourself with it and bask in the
cooling effect. Featuring a 36-inch hose and a high-
quality brass nozzle operated by a clip-type flow
control, the Cool Mate Pump makes a perfect addition
to your hot-weather riding kit. It has the advantage of
being useful in non-motorcycling situations or while
you have stopped for gas on a sweltering day

for 99 cents I can pick up a standard water atomizer from the local drugstore. I think we call them spray bottles...

a spray bottle compared to a preasurized array of nozzles creating a very fine mist is a whole different ball game lol
like to see you reach around and find the spray bottle and then aim it at your self spraying non stop as the water will evaporate instantly.
