We are moving to Houston, Texas!!!




On March 28th we will officially become: (Houstonians)

For how long??? Maybe this will give you a big chance to meet a whole lot more members... Although I was looking forward to a meet and greet in Calgary, (

Sounds like a CO to TX roadtrip is in order!

I guess I can't blame you for moving somewhere that has a year round riding season...I am thinking about it myself...my company was recently "aquired" by an American company, so there will be future opportunity for me down south...so who knows?!?!

Okay, since everyone else is either too polite or too scared to ask the obvious.....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

LOL to all of you!

Here are some details....

My company is moving us there "permanently", or at least more permanently than when we moved to the UK. Some of you will remember we were only supposed to be in the UK for one year and then they kept extending me and extending me. I have been here buidling a team and implementing a whole new technology that didn't exist in this office before (GIS). Finally the office is in a shape where I can leave and all that I've built won't fall apart, so it's time for us to leave.

We were supposed to go back to Calgary and I was in the process of lining up a new job back there when this opportunity arose in Houston. It's a way better job than I was probably going back to in Calgary and we are stoked at the opportunity to live in a year round riding climate. Thankfully, all the paperwork and work permits came through so it's now reality.

We've just been down there for two weeks (end of Feb) to familiarise ourselves with the city and start looking for a house. We didn't buy a house just yet but we've at least narrowed down our requirements. We will be making our move there at the end of March.

We are very excited about road trips!!! And Wrider, if you don't come to us first we will no doubt be coming out your way soon!!!

Now the real mission begins... what bikes to buy...

Dr Bar - you will have to plan another cross-continent trip and come see Texas! And we'll be back in Calgary and even BC every now and again so we will see you at some point!
Madjak - would you have the chance to move to Houston as well? Or somewhere else in the USA?
Fireguzzi - Good to see you back around! Any tips for dealing with the heat? Swimming pool?!?!?

Paul- ever been in east Texas in summer?

Pardon the cliche, but it ain't the heat (which is impressive by itself) ..... it's the humidity.

Riding into Texarkana a few summers ago, I had to buy a half helmet as the full face was literally cooking my brain. 15 minutes of riding and 40 minutes of recovery just to keep from blacking out on the highway. Hit a walmart for the air conditioning, saw and bought the half helmet, brain baking cured... I also kept two water bottles within reach to constantly soak my t-shirt to keep cool, the breeze through the mesh jacket really kept my body temp within reason. That and a camel back for hydration and my ride through Texas was almost bearable...
