Tunnels
How do you folks deal with tunnels? I've driven through plenty, but I rode through one for the first time this weekend and I was practially blind for the first 50 feet
. I could see well enough to stay in my lane, but not well enough to avoid anything that might have been lying in the road.

We have alot of tunnels in Napoli, but the beginnings of the tunnels have about twice the lighting of the interiors, which makes transitioning alot easier.
Plus Italians are required to have headlights on in tunnels (some don't) but the car in front of you may have its rear running lights on which gives you something to focus on til your sight adjusts.

I seem to recall that from drivers (cager) that you were supposed to look at the outside white line with your peripheral vision when dazzled by bright headlights from oncoming cars. It seems to me like this would at least keep you going the right way. You will still be blind to road hazards, but it might help some.

Close your eyes for a while before going through the tunnel, they will be dark adapted by the time you enter.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
