Hi everybody,

Just getting back in to the two-wheel world after being away for a few years. Re-taking the MSF for a refresher (it's free in PA! who knew) and have just picked up a bike I have long drooled over: an '07 Bimmer F800ST.

While I wasn't looking for anything other than a stock bike, the one I was able to find has a Leo Vince exhaust and a Corbin seat (stock parts still included if I want to switch back) I am about to display my total ignorance of motorcycle mechanics in asking this question, but I need to start clearing up that ignorance anyway:

- What is the point of an aftermarket exhaust like a Leo vince?
- As aftermarket exhausts go, how does that one compare?

If anybody has any firsthand experience with the Corbin seat for the F800ST I'd be interested to hear what you think of that, too.

I don't have specific experience with that brand, but generally the point of an aftermarket exhaust is:

• - louder ("they" can hear you better..... this may or may not be a good thing)
  - nicer, "edgier" exhaust note - especially on a BMW 800cc twin, which sounds like a sewing machine with stock exhaust
  - lighter (if you're trying to squeeze out the utmost performance)
  - improved performance, either more horsepower or better throttle response in some part of the rev range. It may require a FI remap to achieve this, or even just to make the bike run correctly with an aftermarket exhaust. Is your exhaust a slip-on or a full system? I believe Leo Vince makes both. A slip-on is less likely to upset the back pressure and mixture and require a remap......

All BMW's have to come up to euro emmision standards. Those zorst while complying can and do restricte the potentil performance of the engine. Most aftermarket exhausts breath easier and allow for more flow. This usually improves the overall performance
