Hey everyone! Thanx for taking a moment to read my post.
Relatively new rider here, though I'm working very hard to make that less so. I'm in that small cross-section of men who were taught to ride by their wives -- she's been racing dirt bikes since she was old enough to pull a clutch lever, and two years ago we bought a KDX for me to learn on. Dirt proved to be too much damn work though for our schedules, so we got outta dirt and into street.
My wife and I bought our first street bike last spring, sold the Ford Focus I'd brought from my first marriage and bought a 2003 Shadow 750. We tried riding 2Up for a while, but it turns out we both like riding too much to have just one bike and towards the end of last summer we bought a 1984 Magna V65 as my 'temporary' bike until we could afford something nicer.
I know even the most well-laid plans can fail, but that one actually worked out. We sold the Magna a couple months ago and replaced it with my bike, a 2001 Vulcan 800 Classic. We've been riding almost non-stop since the weather warmed up.
We are "Most of the gear all of the time" kinda people. We wear helmets, proper boots and gloves every ride, every time. We have ballistic nylon jackets and leather jackets, but on hot days we ride in leather vests. We've also got chaps we wear if we're going to be riding the freeway, but for around town we usually just wear jeans. Oh, and we ride with bells. (-:
That's about all I can come up with for an introductory post. I'm excited to contribute to the forums and I'll probably have more than a few questions. Until then, keep the shiny side up and the rubber down!
Note: I tried posted a pic of our bikes here, but the upload page doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I'll try again later.
