have a 2004 CBR600F4i; want to make it a bit louder considering i can barely hear it myself when riding it let alone any cars around me. Any suggestions as to the loudest, best sounding, and cheapest ways to go about doing this?

well the cheapest way would be to rip out the baffles in your existing muffler, if its accessible and optioned as a rebuildable muffler. not sure id reccommend that tho...that would be extremely loud.
you might try another muffler, one thats meant as a performance upgrade, they generally will allow for greater displacement, therefore will be louder..tho im not sure by how much.

Personally I would leave your can alone unless it was damaged or severely affecting the performance of the bike. My reasoning is that unless it is broke don't fix it; your bike has been precisely engineered and you might have to change a bunch of things just to get it to perform right after changing your muffler. I've gone that route before and by the end I was really tired of the loudness. It just wasn't worth it. I like my ride to be quite and fast!

i thought with sport bikes its was a whole different issue with ripping baffles out. you loose all your performance without those baffles unlike a slight/no lose with a cruiser?

i want to run straight pipes on my katana but everyone told me the motor just wont work with them. you can get a new muffler with less restriction but its still restricted.

ohhh...i almost forgot, good point guys...if you rip out your baffles on your muffler, or upgrade your muffler, you'll need to get a jet kit, and outfit your carbs with larger jets. reason being, if more exhaust is getting out, i*believe* that means more air is being taken in, therefore, you will need more fuel. not sure if thats right, but i know you'll definitely need more fuel, thus the reason for larger jets.

if you took the muffler off and didnt resize your jets, you were running lean, which would explain your lack of power and performance.

yank the mufflers off, see how it sounds/runs, put them back on if it sucks; then ask.

I love the fact that as I'm rolling through someones blind spot I can usually see them look over thier shoulder because they can hear me comming or the fact that if someone is comming over on me all it takes to get thier attention is a quick clutch pull and a couple of revs.

the only time I don't like my loud pipes is when I'm comming into or leaving my apartment complex late at night.
