Oil level down

#1 Unread post by Buelligan »

I have had my Buell since new, and it has never used any oil. The other day after a 600 kmh ride it had dropped noticably (still within the add/fill mark). I keep it parked inside on the cement and there is no sign of any oil on the ground, but I don't understand why the level has dropped.

Any one have any thoughts on this? Bike has about 5000 Kmh.

Have a peek at your airfilter. You may have been riding in such a way as to create high crankcase vaccum(lots of closing the throttle at speed) and sucked it into the intake. H.D. seems to have more trouble with this than many other other bikes, but any bike can do it in the right circumstances.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Thanks Buzz,

I checked my air filter it just has just a little oil but around the bottom rubber gasget, nothing on the filter itself.

I did 300 km yesterday, again on mountain roads but no discernable drop in oil level this time.
