It might not be my place to post this, but I thought I'd get it out there for everyone to see just as soon as I was done with it.

This is the table showing the rankings of all the 2012 Cool Wall Bikes, as ranked by the new system. I apologize for the 'tab stops' being so staggered. The first number is the ranking, the second number is the 'validity' of the ranking. That is to say, there was a years average of 51.1 total votes per bike, and the 'validity' number is what percentage of 51.1 votes the bike received. That's my own invention, something I thought pertinent after seeing the wide margins between total votes for each bike.

It's a pretty good list. I'm sure Mike will post something much cleaner to pour over, but like I said I wanted to toss this up just as soon as possible. Enjoy, and remember -- bikes are the cheapest they'll be all year RIGHT NOW!

The first number is the number of times that manufacturer appeared on the 2012 Cool Wall.
The second number is what percentage of the 2012 Cool Wall that Manufacturer represents.
Third number is how many times that manufacter appeared in the Top 20, then the fourth is the percentage of same.
Fifth is how many times they appeared in the Top 10, the sixth is the percentage of same.
Last number is the manufacturers average score across all their bikes featured in 2012.

I gotta say, I think Kawasaki is the clear winner for 2012. They were 12% of all bikes featured in 2012 - 6 in all. They and Honda were the only two manufacturers with that many bikes up for vote. Of Kawasaki's 6 bikes, 5 of them made the top 20 and 3 made the top 10. Or, 25% of the top 20 and 30 PERCENT of the top 10! And in overall ranking (average score) Kawasaki ranks 4th at 82.76. Kawasaki had more bikes featured in 2012 than the top 3 combined. I'm impressed, how about you?

Wow, that is awesome! Thank you so much for the work and for the insight. It's amazing to view all the 2012 bikes in this way, and after seeing your work above I know we did the right thing by going with a new system that counts all the votes, not just the popular one.

Kawasaki did have an excellent 2012 with the launch of many new models. I'm not surprised they did so well this year and it will be interesting to see how well they continue to do in 2013 and beyond as well. I felt Honda had a real smash with the new CB1100F and Ducati with the EVO. My big surprise with seeing URAL in the top 10, way to go URAL!

I am in the process of building the new Cool Wall Guide pages so I can have 2011, 2012 and 2013 pages as well as a complete master list of ALL bikes we have ever done.

You're welcome, it was actually a lot of fun to put the spreadsheet together and then fill it with bikes. I only joined TMW midsummer 2012, so a lot of these bikes were ones I hadn't voted on yet myself. It was cool to go through them and see which ones I missed.

What was even more interesting was how much of a difference the 'living vote' concept makes. A lot of bikes that finished their Cool Wall Week with one ranking had a completely different one after tallying the current votes.

I'm looking forward to the new pages you mentioned, and thanx again for all the work you do.

This is going to be Honda's year!
