Dealer profits exposed!

My wife found this book after we were horrified by all the fees our local dealer wanted to charge us when we went to buy our new Road King. It was our very first brand new bike, and although we were regulars at the HOG rides/rallies, and the parts/service department, everything changed when we were trying to buy our new bike.
After finding and studying this book, we returned to the dealer. You must know, that we saved over $4,000 off the price they originally quoted!

Nice spam.
1. Dealers don't make that much off of the bike itself. (Usually right around 5% of the bike cost itself)
2. They tend to make their money on service, apparel, parts, and accessories (anywhere from paying a tech 15 bucks and charging you 100 to a markup of 100% on parts/accessories.)

It is clear, by your past bikes, that you have never bought a new motorcycle. Owning junk such as yours does not entitle you to comment here. BTW, the mark up is 15%, minimum....25-30% on KTM's. I should know, I wrote the book.

Dealers mark up extended warrany costs 200-300%, and they always increase the interest rates!

Sales managers, finance managers and GM's, at busy stores all make over $100K/Year! Where do you think that money comes from you idiot!

Ummm, merely because I have owned used bikes doesn't mean what I own is junk.

I can comment because I have seen the numbers behind sales because I have worked at dealers. I have seen invoice prices, list prices, and final sales prices. They're nowhere near where you claim there.

Extended warranties are typically marked up quite a bit, yes I will agree with that.

All of them make over 100K/year eh? Interesting...

Now as for the name calling, I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me names. Fact is: you came onto a random forum with a spam link about a book you apparently wrote. You have no idea what my qualifications are. You have no idea what I've done, where I've worked, what numbers I've seen and worked with, and no idea whether or not I'm speaking from experience.

Of course you were able to save 4K. You bought one of the highest-markup priced bikes on the market. HD trades on their name. The rest of the industry has to trade on technology, comfort, features, etc. They cannot mark up as much because they don't have the amazing legions of fanboys that HD does.

If you're up for a rational discussion, please by all means I'm up for it. If you can't handle that, I'm done.

I'll second Wrider's position -- don't come to a new forum as a rook, spamming us with your product and hoping you'll make a few bucks, and then attack long respected members of this forum because they disagree with your hypothesis. You're [-] <~~ that close to the BanHammer already with the spam...give us a reason. (-:

Note: Out of curiosity, you say you found this book, studied it, then returned to the dealer to save money in your first post.
In your second post, it says you wrote it. Which is it?
