New rider here! After browsing around the web, this site looked like a great place for info and friendly advice. I'm just starting my journey and look forward to meeting all the folks here. I'm an older rider (40s- ... ok maybe not that old!) and knew I was way too reckless to ride when I was younger. I can approach it in a much saner and wiser way now. I also used to live in the city and knew that it was way too crazy to learn to ride there. Now live in Delaware and lots of nice long stretches of road to learn to ride properly. Looking to buy a smaller used cruiser as a starter.

Welcome to the community!
Sounds like you have grown wise with age and starting out on a smaller used bike is great idea. Have you rode before? Have you taken a safety course? Any budget?

Thank you all! Yes, taking the safety course in a couple of weeks and will buy shortly after that. I'm a new rider and plan on taking it VERY slow - nice open roads with little traffic as I build comfort level and experience.

Welcome to TMW Charlie, and congratulations on taking the leap. You really can't find a more helpful and active forum community, and we look forward to following your adventure. I, especially, am happy to see another cruiser rider signing on.
Feel free to post your questions and concerns, and make sure to check out the Register your Ride thread to see what other members are riding. There's nothing like firsthand knowledge when it comes to picking a bike, and I promise you that whatever bike you're looking at, someone on the forum rides one just like it every day.

Thanks all - just passed the Delaware BRC (aka MSF) class this past weekend and got my endorsement. Totally invaluable class and now ready to make that first purchase!
