Saw this on a local forum and it floored me...
Basically a lady was high on cocaine, drunk, swerved into an oncoming lane where she killing a rider, lied to the cops about it, admitted she shouldn't have been driving to the same cops, and the courts are trying to impose a 1 day jail sentence with a 3 year probation sentence because "she had a rough life".

The worst thing of all is that even here in the states we NEVER revoke licences.

I've been in court for my fair share of BS (revenue increasing) tickets. The judge will say "doing 80 in a 25? what is the hell is wrong with you? Well I won't take away your license since you need it to work but SLOW DOWN". My hand to god that was an actual case I am _not_ exaggerating.

Even uninsured motorists don't get their licenses revoked.

So sad to say I'm not surprised some woman KILLING someone while driving it's just "Oh well this crap happens, move along".

Adele has it right...

"Adele Tompkins, executive director of the B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists(BCCOM), said she was outraged by Smith’s one-day sentence.
'The unjust sentence was more than we could bear,' said Tompkins. 'Recently, the fellow who tripped two kids on the ice got 15 days in jail, and this woman gets one day in jail. There’s something really wrong with that.' "

BCCOM, is an organization that is fighting for M/C's rights. they have fought for and achieved our right to ride in the carpool lanes, thanks to BCCOM, we get priority boarding on the BC Ferry fleet, there has been more M/C parking allocated in the downtown core in Vancouver. The list goes on...

Well ... even you refer to her as a Lady. Until this prejudicial mind set is changed? I don't see tings, like this, going away. If it had been a male tweeker that hit the rider? How do you think it would have played out then?

Heh I referred to her as a lady merely because this forum is not the place to post the language I think of her as.

I can understand no wanting to use foul language here. Don't change the fact that the broad is foul. Calling that bimbo a lady is an insult to the real ladies in the world.

Still no news on the appeal of this sentence, prosecutor wants it "Substantially" increased. There was supposed to be hearings in Feb, but nothing in the news yet...
