"popping" "sputtering" maybe backfiring to a degree

So my honda has developed a "sputter" It's only on the left side, and usuall happens at idol or deceleration. I adjust my carbs to give myself a little more idol (2000rpms) and that seemed to calm it down although it is still there.
Also checked the spark plug on that side and it was perfect. My next step is to clean the carb. but also looking for any advice or ideas to try as well.
cheers

You shouldn't have them idling that high. Your best bet is to balance the carbs.

The carbs are not synced you need to buy or borrow mercury sticks and adjust the air/fuel mixture until the sticks are all balanced in the same spot. but before you do all that check the rubber boots that connect the carbs to the heads for weathered cracks and suck.
