I need some good advice! CM400

I purchased an 81 Honda CM400 that didn't run for cheap. After cleaning out the carbs and a few other things I've finally got it running! Yay for me. I have two questions.

I don't like the way the bike sounds, I want it to have more rumble to it but I don't want it to be loud. People are talking about straight pipes, slip ons, something about baffles and drilling. Where do I start and what are my real options? I don't want to rig anything up.

Dude, it is what it is, you can try putting more open pipes on it but it isn't worth the rejetting and other problems you end up with. Ride brother, ride.

Tinkering is one way to learn about stuff but sometimes what you'll learn is that no amount of tinkering will accomplish what you want when you start with the wrong materials.

Are there ANY 400cc bikes that 'rumble?' If so, can you figure out how that's accomplished?

Tinkering that bike into a reliable, safe vehicle is great.

Learning to ride it really well will serve you better in the long run than taking a sidetrip down exhaust modification lane.

Yes, I've seen several CM400 bikes that rumble. I'll figure it out.

Ok maybe you'll be the guy that gets a CM400 to sound just like a Harley. Good luck.
