Sucks to be him - but why exactly is this guy a squid? Seems to me it could happen to any of us, and even did happen to a family friend when I was a teenager.

Squid = Stupidly Quick, Imminently Dead....or in this guys case, damn near dead. If you notice, he was riding, stopped and then basically gunned it off the line, paying attention to his speedo and not what was ahead of him, squiddly behaviour, which most of us have likely been guilty of once or twice.

A few years back I was riding on Green Mountain road in Penticton, cooking along but always aware that I was in wildlife territory, deer, bears, elk, mountain goats, all resided in the bush, not to mention horseback riders and the odd cow or two taking it into to their little minds to go for a amble down the roadside. Sure enough, came around a corner and found a black bear taking a nap in the middle of the road. Stopped with enough distance between him and me, that I was able to turn the Sabre around and bugger off before he figured I might make a tasty lunch. Had I been really pushing it, odds are I would of slammed into him.
